Some more pictures - Wednesday
Sharon sent me these photos from the last three days! Thanks Sharon! Yesterday found us waiting around here most the day for a repairman! He never did show! We messed around in the Rock Shop and Sharon was doing windows on some material we picked up on Monday! We then went over to Clouds Jamboree and then to dinner at Moon Shadow. Oh, the new refrigerator was delivered at nine yesterday morning. YES, getting closer to the kitchen remodel.

Green River will have a second grocery store by November, if everything goes according to plan.
Obo’s Deli and Market is a popular place in Pinedale and Marbleton, and the developer hopes to be in Green River by next fall.
Mayor Hank Castillon met with Chopper Grassell on Monday to work on the plans for the new market. The store will include an inventory of groceries as well as a delicatessen and specialty meat department. The market will also carry organic foods. It will be larger than the Marbleton store, filling a 6,000 to 8,000 square-foot building.
“Mr. Grassell is looking at several different locations and working on details of the store,” according to Michelle Hostetler, director of SWEDA.
She added that he wants the store to be easily accessible to people in Green River as well as people from Rock Springs and those traveling through the area.
Hostetler said everyone at SWEDA and in the city is “so excited about this project.”
Castillon said people speak to him nearly every day about the need for another grocery store.
“I’m sure this new market will meet and exceed customers’ expectations for both product and price, It will be a great boost to our economy and a welcome addition to Green River,” Castillon said.

See Lynn's Blog for further explanation to this! And my blog Sunday night!
Then I get an email that says:
"There was a wench named Marie
who's truck bogged down in the sea
a winch truck was called
and all were appalled
that the wenches winch truck was not free"
Here's what Lynn wrote me this morning: "Sally, I just keep laughing…. Things to pull things with are winches. Wenches are women - well sort of like harlots. So I’m imagining a jeep caravan of …. Wenches."
I was laughing so hard I could not answer her email...picked up the phone and we both laughed together!

Friday
Yesterday found us going to Home Depot and Lowe's to get supplies to start the next remodel.
Pete wanted to ride to Havasu for lunch, but I'm just not quite ready for even a short motorcycle trip yet. I kinda crunched my hip a couple of days ago (trying to get on my motorcycle), so I want to wait just a little longer.
Lynn Thomas posted a great panorama shot she took of Fremont Lake. Look on her blog (my sidebar).
Just got an email from Bill and Sharon...they are coming down next week. That will be fun!

Downed US Airways plane may have hit birds: FAA

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A US Airways jet with about 150 people on board came down into the frigid Hudson River off Manhattan after apparently hitting a flock of geese on Thursday and officials said everyone was rescued.
Rescued passengers said they believed everyone had survived the crash, which left the Airbus A320 intact and floating in the river.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it was investigating reports that the plane hit a flock of birds after taking off from New York's LaGuardia airport and fell into the river on a freezing winter day.
An FAA spokeswoman said: "We've confirmed everyone got off."
A passenger told Reuters there was what sounded like an explosion a few minutes after takeoff.
"The engine blew. There was fire everywhere and it smelled like gas," Jeff Kolodjay, from Norwalk, Connecticut, told Reuters on a midtown Manhattan quay. "People were bleeding all over. We hit the water pretty hard. It was scary."
Another rescued passenger, Alberto Panero, told CNN, "I'm pretty sure everyone got off ... It's just incredible that everyone's alive."
As many as eight ferries and local water taxi services rushed to rescue passengers, some of whom lined up on the half-submerged plane's wings, some wearing yellow life vests, before police boats arrived.
"I saw the plane coming in very low but under control, it splashed down in the water. Once it cleared it was still floating on its belly," said Thomson Reuters employee Alex Whittaker who was in a 22nd floor meeting room at the company's Times Square building.
"The doors opened and we could see life rafts and we could just about see a few people climbing out onto the water," he said.
Flight 1549 was headed for Charlotte, North Carolina.
US Airways said in a statement it was investigating the incident. The FAA said the plane was an Airbus A320 with 148 passengers and four or five crew.

No pictures to post today and I'm not inventive enough to go find one from another time/another place!
Yesterday we went over to Avi and had buffet with the Reed's and Mona. We then walked through the Convention Part of the Jewelry Rock show. Talked to the guy from Delta whose family owns the Beryllium mine.
I just saw Pete go by outside with a tree (not a small one) in the bucket in the tractor.

Monday
The rock group went out down past McCracken Mine and Alamo Lake on a long field trip Saturday. I understand they had a great time. Pete and I opted to go on a Photo field trip Saturday up off of Silver Creek. Had a great time and we were home early. We are going down toward Alamo with Pete’s brother next Sunday on a pre jeep run mainly to see some slot canyons. I do believe Corinne is going.
Pete has cleaned up all my rocks out back. Took old fence rails, enclosed the car/horse port. (where he parks the tractor). Then built a deck, turned the rock trailer around and it’s so nice to work out there., I cut some rocks yesterday. Also it will take me three lifetimes to sort out the piles of rock he dumped!
I will post pictures soon.
I’m walking a lot better…this has been a slow process. (smile)

Cool Site today from Kim Komando
Copied directly from Kim Komando: Fun for weather geeks
"The other day, I received an e-mail from Patrick, a loyal Kim's Club member. Patrick is a weather buff and wanted to suggest a Cool Site. Now, computer geeks are often criticized for using computer-ese. That's nothing compared to the jargon Patrick was using.
He was throwing around terms like "wind chill." I have no idea what that is. How could wind possibly be cold? Here in Phoenix, wind feels as hot as the sun's surface.
But I plodded on through his e-mail. Then, I saw a term that I could understand: "heat index." I definitely know what that is!
So, I headed over to the site Patrick suggested. It features a slew of tools to help you better understand the weather.
You can convert between different temperature scales. Or, find the wind chill, heat index and dew point. And that's just for starters!
My favorite tool is the Cricket Chirp Converter. It will tell you the temperature based on the number of cricket chirps. What fun!"

Skier Suffers Exposure
Man left dangling upside down, pantsless after Vail lift mishap
Man left dangling upside down, pantsless after Vail lift mishap
JANUARY 6--In a bizarre incident that will surely lead to litigation (or an out-of-court settlement), a skier at Colorado's ritzy Vail resort was left dangling upside down and pantsless from a chairlift last Thursday morning. The January 1 mishap apparently occurred after the male skier, 48, and a child boarded a high-speed lift in Vail's Blue Sky Basin. It appears that the chairlift's fold-down seat was somehow not in the lowered position, which caused the man to partially fall through the resulting gap. His right ski got jammed in the ascending chairlift, and that kept him upended since his boot never dislodged from its binding. As seen in the photos on the following pages (which were snapped by fellow skiers), the Skyline Express lift was stopped shortly after the pair's botched boarding resulted in the man dangling from the lift. The exposed skier was stuck for about 15 minutes before Vail personnel backed the lift up and successfully dislodged the unidentified man from the four-seat chair. The images on page four and five were taken by a local photographer who happened upon the rescue scene. In a statement released this afternoon, Vail Resorts, which operates the ski area, reported that the skier was not injured after being "suspended for approximately seven minutes." The press release did not explain how the mishap occurred, only that "the man was caught on the chair." (5 pages)

A dear friend sent me this yesterday...
In Case You Thought You Had A Bad Day....
1. The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska was $80,000. At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers. A minute later, in full view, they were both eaten by a killer whale.
2. A psychology student in New York rented out her spare room to a carpenter in order to nag him constantly and study his reactions. After weeks of needling, he snapped and beat her repeatedly with an ax handle, leaving her mentally retarded.
3. In 1992, Frank Perkins of Los Angeles made an attempt on the world flagpole-sitting record. Suffering from the flu, he came down eight HOURS short of the 400 day record; his sponsor had gone bust, his girlfriend had left him and his phone and electricity had been cut off.
4. A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen, shaking frantically with what looked like a wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle. Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current, she whacked him with a handy plank of wood, breaking his arm in two places. Until that moment, he had been happily listening to his Walkman.
5. Two animal rights protesters were protesting the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in Bonn, Germany. Suddenly, the pigs, all two thousand of them, escaped through a broken fence and stampeded, trampling the two hapless protesters to death.
6. Iraqi terrorist, Khay Rahnajet, didn't pay enough postage on a letter bomb. It came back with "return to sender" stamped on it. Forgetting it was the bomb, he opened it and was blown to bits.
There, now! Your day's not so bad after all, is it?
